Does my vet need to use DogCat?
No. DogCat works independently of your vet’s software. Create your own account, add your pets and start keeping records and setting reminders. Your clinic does not need to sign up, connect a system or approve anything.
Do I need to change vets to use DogCat?
No. Keep the vet you know and trust. DogCat organizes the information and routines you manage yourself, whether you visit one clinic, several specialists or change vets later.
How is DogCat different from PetDesk?
PetDesk connects pet owners with participating clinics for features such as synced clinic records and appointment requests. It also offers custom reminders. DogCat focuses on pet care you manage yourself: add health records, medication, vaccinations, weight and reminders without connecting your clinic.
Can I use DogCat if my clinic already uses PetDesk?
Yes. You can keep using your clinic’s tools for appointments and communication, and use DogCat for your own records, reminders and shared care. You do not need to change your vet or ask the clinic to switch systems.
Can I start without waiting for my clinic?
Yes. Download DogCat, create your account and add your pets. You can set your first reminders and add the records you already have straight away, without waiting for your clinic to join or set up an integration.
Is DogCat free to use?
Yes. Everyday pet care is free for unlimited pets and users. The free plan includes a few ads, and DogCat Plus offers optional extras. You do not need a Plus subscription or a participating clinic to get started.
Can I manage pets that visit different vets?
Yes. Add unlimited pets for free, each with their own profile. Keep records from different clinics in the appropriate pet’s profile and see everyone’s upcoming care in one shared schedule.
How do I add records from my vet?
Add the documents, vaccination details and vet notes you already have to your pet’s profile. If you need a copy of something, request it from your clinic and add it when available. You can start with your other records and reminders in the meantime.
Can I set medication and vaccination reminders myself?
Yes. Set reminders for medication, vaccinations, deworming, appointments and other care routines yourself. Use the dates and instructions your vet has given you. No clinic connection is needed to manage your schedule.
Will DogCat automatically sync records from my clinic?
DogCat works independently of clinic systems. You add and update your pet’s records yourself, so there is no clinic integration to wait for. Records and shared care sync across your DogCat devices and users with an internet connection.
Can I customize DogCat for my pet’s needs?
Yes. Create custom pet types, breeds, log types and custom fields for extra details in your pet’s records, alongside medication, custom vaccinations, weight and vet notes.
Can my family or pet sitter share care for free?
Yes. DogCat lets you share pet care with unlimited users for free. Choose whether each person can edit records or only view them.
Can I use DogCat on iPhone and Android?
Yes. DogCat is available on the App Store and Google Play. Sign in with the same DogCat account to access your pets across devices, or invite family members through their own accounts.
Can I get help directly from the founder?
Yes. DogCat is independently developed by Renato, and in-app live chat connects you directly with the founder. Open Settings to start a chat, or email renato@dogcat.app. You can ask for help or suggest improvements.

I'm Renato, a Portuguese software engineer. I've spent years building technology at leading companies, but DogCat started with something more personal: my two cats, Chilli and Panda.
